Established over 160 years ago, Skipton Building Society had a reputation as a trusted, local building society with its members’ best interests at heart. To evolve for future success in a challenging market their strategy was to offer an ‘all of life’ portfolio with a focus on worry free retirement. We were challenged to develop a new consumer-facing proposition and brand identity to support this strategy and help them seize their next market opportunity. ThinkOTB were a safe pair of hands to deliver the consumer-facing proposition and identity across all media.
Our creative thinking
Appropriately, the Skipton castle icon was set in stone, however the makeover delivered a contemporary identity with a hint of nostalgia, bespoke imagery features people enjoying an ‘active retirement’ or pre-retirement. The ribbons are a metaphor for Skipton Building Society and the member moving through life together. Extensive brand guidelines meant that everyone understood the brand and all it stands for. We delivered a coherent and contemporary brand approach fit for the future but underpinned by their 160-year heritage.
