Back to Work: Recharging, Refocusing, and Reimagining Success
The break is over, our alarm clocks are back on, and the emails are starting to pile up. Whether you’ve been on a relaxing holiday, enjoying time with family, or just taking a well-deserved break, getting back into the work routine can be both challenging and invigorating. Here’s some tips from our marketing agency team to make the most of your return and set yourself up for success.
Seeing the wood for the trees
Managing Director, Jo says: “Returning to work often comes with a mix of emotions. There’s excitement to dive into new projects and new client work, anxiety about catching up on all the work you’ve missed and feeling happy to be back working with a great team! Although I’d been keeping a quiet eye on my emails, I spent Sunday evening organising my thoughts and tasks, reviewing my calendar, and projects, and making a list of priorities. I knew what I was returning to on Monday morning and was able to have a bit of time catching up with the team about work and holidays.”
Back-to-back blur!
Creative Director, Dave says: ”I think the key to the first day back is not booking back-to-back meetings. You need time to catch up rather than jump into intense work right away. This helps your mind and body adjust after the slower pace of a holiday and allow your creativity to spark again.”
Regaining routine
Copywriter, Sarah says: “For me, the key to getting your head back into the game is re-establishing my work routine. It’s getting back to planning out the day, writing my to-do list (I LOVE a list!) and being proactive. I have lunch at the same time each day. I’m picking my productivity habits back up – like time-blocking and prioritising tasks. The familiarity of routine helps you ease back into work more easily.”
Reflecting on your break
Account Director, Sarah B: “For me, holidays are about having a break and the opportunity to rest, reset and recharge. I try to properly switch off from work. Then, I can come back more motivated with a clear, fresh head. If I think of any small changes I can make to be more efficient, the first week back is a great time to make them!”
Staying positive
Account Director, Sarah S: “Holidays are really important to me and my family. That makes coming back to work after a break can feel like a challenge. But, I simply focus on all the positive aspects of my job. A mindset of excitement makes my return much smoother and sets the right tone for productivity and success.”
